The Flying Geese Quilt Guild was formed in 1989 by a handful of women who wanted to learn more about quilting. They began meeting in individual homes, showing each other new quilting techniques, and learning from each other. Our members have a wide range of skill levels ranging from learning how to quilt to professional quilters. The guild provides many opportunities to learn and have fun. We offer workshops, quilt speakers, retreats, trips and classes.

We will look at the traditional knots, from simple to mind-blowingly complex! We will peruse the elaborate (and sometimes weird) illustrations from the Book of Kells.
Using Bias Tape, Embroidery and Felt made of a Bamboo/Rayon blend, we will make a unique and relaxing project. Many different designs are available to choose from!
This class is designed for Handwork stitching!
A kit is required for this class. It will available from the instructor on the class day.
Denise Russell - Fearless Panel Quilt Makers
May 19th – 9am – 3pm at Bel Air United Methodist Church
$25
Please call Janice Sparwasser at 443-721-9591 or email her at jspazmom1@hotmail.com after you register to get the supply list.
After this workshop, you will never fear making quilts with panels again! We will evaluate the panels brought to class, brainstorm layouts, review numbers likely to work with panel measurements and sew. You will learn (and practice!):
- Which fabric colors to use around the panel
- How to design pieced borders:
- Which type of blocks? How many blocks? Which fabrics to place in the blocks?
- What do you do if the math—or the final size of the project you have in mind—isn’t
working for the blocks you want to make?
- Where to place fabrics and which fabrics to use on straight borders
- How to use panel blocks
- How to use panels with blocks of different/odd sizes
